James R. Thompson, Inc. (JRT) is a full-service General Contractor that specializes in the premium interior finish-out of commercial construction projects. We have won many awards for our work including the Distinguished Building Award from AGC a record fifteen times. Our clients come from many market segments but one common theme from all of them is they tend to have unique, high end projects with big expectations for the design team and the General Contractor executing the work. Often there is a high degree of construction difficulty, a tight schedule, or a budget challenge to overcome. Sometimes all three of these can happen on the same project and honestly those become our favorites as we love the challenge as it allows us to showcase our capabilities and separate us from the competition.

We have developed an extensive network of unique craftsmen and technicians in every trade. Our project teams are very experienced and can handle smaller projects under $500K as well as the largest ones. We recently completed a $25 Million Interiors Project, but most of our work is in the $1 Million to $5 Million range.  JRT is well known for delivering difficult projects on time, responsiveness, and problem solving skills. Our Precon Team is very accessible and can turn in bids on short notice and give preliminary budgets even faster. We have completed and submitted a $10 Million bid in five days during the holidays while the competition had to file for a bid extension. JRT moves fast to get a project started and we have name recognition with all the Municipalities and Permit Expediters. Once the project starts it’s not uncommon for our teams to shave a week or two off the schedule. The average construction experience for a Superintendent or Project Manager is 18 years and most of our Project Teams have been with us at least ten years and seven of them have been with JRT over twenty-five years.

Finally, our expertise is built upon a foundation of thirty-eight years of experience encountering just about every situation you can possible have on a construction project. Our business philosophy relies upon serving our customers before, during, and after the projects are complete. We have many customers who rehire us when their lease expires and a lot of times we can give them the exact same team as before.
